We have over 40 years’ experience walking production lines and working alongside our customers – identifying where our products can deliver maximum value.
Our grinding pads have different flexibilities to suit the application, from light sanding and grinding curved surfaces to the heaviest industrial metal grinding.
We asked our experts for some advice on the common issues you might encounter with grinding and sanding products – and how to resolve them!
QUESTION 1: THE GRINDING PROCESS IS SIMPLY TAKING TOO LONG! WHAT IS CAUSING THIS?
Stiffness of the grinding pad is key to making the most of your abrasive disc. If the grinding pad is too soft, this will result in an inefficient process.
We have a range of pads, suitable for different surfaces and working requirements. Our pads have different flexibilities to suit the application, from light grinding of curved surfaces, to the heaviest industrial metal grinding – find out more about our grinding products here
QUESTION 2: THE SANDING DISCS WEAR OUT TOO QUICKLY AND REQUIRE FREQUENT REPLACEMENT – HOW CAN I REDUCE THIS NEED?
A support pad that is too hard will cause pads to wear out much faster, this will also interfere with control of the machine in certain applications.
Maybe try a softer pad?
We offer a range of densities from no-foam backing pads, to durable PUR or ultra-soft foam for curved surfaces or final polishing, click here to find out more.
QUESTION 3: OVERHEATING IS AFFECTING THE SURFACE MATERIAL/EFFICACY OF THE ABRASIVE DISC – HOW CAN I MANAGE THIS?
Heat-resistant pads or cooling ribs can help manage heat build-up during the process. There are several products you might want to try – our interface cushions are a soft foam layer placed between an orbital sanding pad and abrasive disc – the foam layer absorbs inconsistencies in pressure and wraps around curved or contoured surfaces reducing the risk of paint burn through.
Our Coolflow™ pads feature a hollow chamber to allow greater air flow, providing the ultimate in dust extraction.
We also supply velour protection discs – this additional layer absorbs heat, protecting the fixing on the dual action backing pad.
